Wedding in Pisa and the country around it

A city on the Arno with the airport on its doorstep, villas in the hills behind it and the coast a short drive away.

Most people know Pisa for the square of the leaning tower, Piazza del Duomo, a UNESCO site. A wedding here is more about the river: the curving lungarni lined with palazzi, where the comune keeps its ceremony halls in Palazzo Gambacorti. The PisaMover shuttle links the airport with the central station in about five minutes, which makes Pisa the easiest Tuscan city for guests who fly in. Around the city the choice widens: villas at the foot of Monte Pisano, beach venues at Marina di Pisa and Tirrenia, and the walled hill town of Volterra with its estates. We help you decide where the ceremony, the dinner and the guest base belong.

What we arrange in and near Pisa

01

Ceremony in Palazzo Gambacorti

The comune of Pisa celebrates in historic halls of its palazzo on the Arno, the Sala delle Baleari among them. We book the date and prepare the documents with its wedding office.

02

Ceremony in Volterra

The Sala del Maggior Consiglio in Palazzo dei Priori seats about 90 guests and is reserved for an hour, enough for the rite, photographs and greetings.

03

Villas in the Pisan hills

Historic houses with gardens at the foot of Monte Pisano, close to the airport and the motorway, checked for capacity, parking and music hours.

04

Dinner by the sea

A beach venue or a terrace at Marina di Pisa or Tirrenia for the evening, with the sun setting over the water and a plan for wind.

05

Guests who fly in

Meeting at the airport, hotels in the centre within walking distance of the river, shuttles to the venue and late returns.

06

Portraits in the city

An early walk on the Piazza dei Miracoli before the crowds and a session on the lungarni at blue hour.

What we take care of around Pisa

The Pisan June calendar

On the evening of 16 June the Luminara lights up the lungarni, on 17 June the Palio di San Ranieri is held, and the Gioco del Ponte follows on the last Saturday of June. We check your dates against all three.

Places beyond the town hall

The comune also designates sites outside its palazzo for civil ceremonies, including on the coast. The list changes, so we confirm what is available on your date.

Short distances, exact timings

City, airport, hills and coast lie close together, and we still time every transfer, including the night return for guests.

Your coordinator, your language

One person from our Florence team leads the whole project in English, and you receive a fixed written estimate before any work begins.

Questions about a wedding in Pisa

Where are civil weddings held in Pisa?

In the halls of Palazzo Gambacorti, the town hall on the Arno, and at other sites the comune has designated for ceremonies. Available halls, dates and the tariff are confirmed with the comune's wedding office.

Can we marry legally on a beach near Pisa?

Only where the comune has made a stretch of coast an official ceremony site, because Italian law ties the civil rite to the town hall or places designated as such. Elsewhere on the sand the ceremony is symbolic, with the legal part done in town.

Can we get married in Volterra?

Yes. The comune celebrates in the Sala del Maggior Consiglio of Palazzo dei Priori, which it describes as the oldest town hall in Tuscany. Ceremonies are held every day in morning and afternoon slots, and an adjoining room can be booked for a toast.

Is June a good month for a wedding in Pisa?

It is a lively one: the Luminara, the Palio and the Gioco del Ponte fill the city and its hotels. If you want those evenings in your wedding weekend, book early; if you want calm, choose another month.

How far is Pisa airport from the city centre?

Very close: the PisaMover shuttle runs from the terminal to Pisa Centrale station in about five minutes. From there most hotels in the centre are a short taxi ride or a walk.
