Beach wedding in Versilia

A ceremony on the sand on the Tuscan coast: which permissions apply, how to choose the time and what to do about wind and rain.

Almost all the sand on the Versilia coast is held under concession: the beaches are divided between bathing establishments, and free stretches are few. A beach ceremony therefore usually takes place within a particular beach club or on a stretch agreed with the comune and the maritime authority. It cannot be guaranteed that it is possible on any given beach. We start by asking where exactly it is allowed on your date, and only then design the ceremony. After that we choose the time by light and wind, decide how guests will walk on the sand and prepare an indoor fallback in case of weather.

How we organise a beach ceremony

01

Choosing the place and permits

We ask the beach club, the comune and the maritime authority what is possible on your date, and submit the necessary applications on time.

02

Timing by light and wind

A ceremony is usually set for late evening, when the heat and wind drop and the light is soft. We check the time against sunset on your date.

03

Styling on the sand

The arch, the aisle and the chairs are made wind-resistant, flowers are chosen by season and the aisle is laid so heels do not sink.

04

Sound outdoors

Music and a microphone in the wind need their own approach: we choose the equipment and its position so the vows can be heard.

05

The plan B

We choose in advance a club hall, a veranda or a villa nearby where the ceremony will move in rain or a storm, and set a deadline for the decision.

06

Dinner after the ceremony

We continue the evening on the club terrace, in a villa among the pines or in a restaurant on the seafront, and bring guests there without fuss.

Tell us about your celebration

Tell us the occasion, the date and the number of guests. We will suggest a format, a venue and vendors, and prepare a fixed written estimate before any work starts.

What to know about a beach wedding

A beach is never simply public

Rights to a stretch of sand belong to the club or concession holder, and the public strip at the water is regulated separately. We find out who has to agree.

Season and crowds

In July and August the beaches are full, and a ceremony on the sand may be possible only before opening or after closing. In spring and September it is easier to agree.

Sand and footwear

Sand is a hard surface for guests and especially for a dress. We plan decking, footwear and the distance from the car park to the arch.

The weather decides

Sea wind and summer storms can change a plan within hours. So the fallback is ready from the start and is not improvised.

Questions about a beach wedding

Do we need permission for a ceremony on the beach?

As a rule yes: the consent of the club or concession holder and, depending on place and format, permission from the comune. We find out the requirements for your date and file the papers ourselves.

Will a ceremony on the beach be legally binding?

A legally binding ceremony is held in a comune hall or a place approved by the comune. A ceremony on the sand is most often symbolic, and many couples combine it with the official registration.

What time of day is best for the ceremony?

Most often towards evening, one to two hours before sunset: less heat and wind, softer light. We calculate the exact time for your date.

What happens if there is a storm on the day?

The ceremony moves to the fallback space we choose in advance with the beach club. A decision time is set so that suppliers can adjust.

Can we hold a party on the beach after the ceremony?

It depends on the club's rules and the comune, especially on loud music and late hours. We check this early and, if needed, move the evening to a terrace or a villa.
