Live music and DJ in Tuscany
We select musicians and a DJ for the ceremony, dinner and dancing, and agree sound, licensing and hours with the venue in advance.
Music at a celebration falls into separate parts: quiet for the ceremony, background for the aperitivo and dinner, dancing later at night. Each needs its own performers and equipment, and we build them into a single programme. The main practical question in Italy is not repertoire but conditions. Public performance of music is usually linked to SIAE licensing, and the permitted volume and finishing time depend on the venue and the municipality. We clarify this at the start of preparation, not the day before.
What we arrange
Ceremony music
A violin, string quartet, guitar or voice for the entrance and the vows. We choose the line-up to suit the size of the venue and the repertoire to suit the two of you.
Aperitivo and dinner
A jazz trio, an acoustic duo or a pianist who create atmosphere without drowning conversation. We agree breaks and the moments when the musicians play louder.
Dancing and DJ
A live band or a DJ for the evening block. We discuss genres, your lists of wanted and unwanted songs, and when the dancing begins.
Sound and equipment
We find out what the venue already has, what must be brought, where the speakers go and how power is run, especially outdoors and on a lawn.
SIAE and agreed hours
We check whether a licence for public performance is needed, and until what hour amplified music is allowed at this venue and in this comune.
Briefing and running order
We give the musicians the timing: entrance, first dance, cake and toasts. We agree cues so that the music starts and fades at the right moment.
Tell us about your celebration
Tell us the occasion, the date and the number of guests. We will suggest a format, a venue and vendors, and prepare a fixed written estimate before any work starts.
Why plan the music early
Sound suits the place
A stone courtyard, a lawn and a palazzo hall each sound different. We tell the musicians in advance where they will play, and they choose line-up and equipment.
Rules are not a surprise
Hours for loud music and licensing are discussed when the venue is chosen, not on the day, when it is too late to change anything.
One running order for everyone
Musicians, host and photographer work from the same schedule, so the entrance, first dance and cake do not push each other around.
A fallback for rain
If the ceremony moves indoors, we already know how to change the line-up and where the equipment will stand.
Common questions about live music at a celebration
What is SIAE and is it needed at a private celebration?
SIAE is the Italian society of authors that handles licensing of public performance of music. Whether a licence is needed at your event depends on its format and location, and we check it case by case.
Until what time can music play at a villa?
There is no single time: it depends on the villa's rules, the municipality and the neighbours. We clarify it when choosing the venue and build it into the evening programme.
Live band or DJ for a wedding?
They are often combined: live musicians for the ceremony and dinner, a DJ for dancing. A band creates atmosphere, while a DJ is easier to adapt to guests of different generations.
Can we request a favourite song for the ceremony?
Yes, musicians learn an arrangement in advance if they receive the piece a few weeks ahead. We pass on the list and check that the instrument suits it.
Do we need our own equipment, or does the venue have it?
Some venues have basic equipment, but more often the performers or a sound contractor bring it. We find this out at the site visit and include it in the estimate.
