Wedding in Maremma and on the Tuscan coast
Southern Tuscany at its wildest: pine-backed beaches, the Argentario promontory and hill towns among the fields.
Maremma is the southern part of Tuscany around Grosseto: long sandy beaches backed by pinewoods, the Argentario promontory with the harbours of Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole, and inland a quiet country of farmhouses, olive groves and hill towns such as Pitigliano and Massa Marittima. There is more room here than in Chianti, and the pace is slower. Distance is the main thing to plan. For the southern coast, Rome Fiumicino is often closer than Florence or Pisa, and the drives between the sea and the hills are long. We pick one base where most guests can stay and keep the ceremony and the dinner within easy reach of it.
What we organise in Maremma
A ceremony in an Argentario fortress
The comune of Monte Argentario lists Forte Stella above Porto Ercole and the Spanish fortress in Porto Santo Stefano among its ceremony sites, alongside the council hall.
Estates inland
Farmhouses and country estates with large grounds, rooms for the family and space for a long outdoor table. Capacity and the owner's rules are checked first.
Dinner by the sea
A beach venue, a terrace above a harbour or a garden in the pinewood, with the menu and music set to the rules of the place.
Arrivals via Rome, Florence or Pisa
We choose the airport by where you stay, then plan the transfers, the wedding-day shuttles and the late return along country roads.
Fish from the coast, meat from the hills
A menu that follows the land: seafood near the sea, the cooking of the inland farms further from it, and local wines tasted in advance.
Sun, wind and a plan B
Shade for an afternoon ceremony, a windbreak by the water and a covered space ready if the weather turns, decided by an agreed deadline.
Tell us about your celebration
Tell us the occasion, the date and the number of guests. We will suggest a format, a venue and vendors, and prepare a fixed written estimate before any work starts.
Why plan a Maremma wedding with us
One base, not five
We look for one estate or a cluster of houses close together, so guests are not scattered across the province.
Legal or symbolic, said plainly
We tell you early where a civil ceremony is possible and where only a symbolic one, so the beach or field you love brings no surprises.
High season secured early
July and August are the busiest months on this coast, so we lock in rooms, transport and staff as soon as the date is set.
A Florence team, an estimate in writing
Your coordinator speaks your language and visits the venue with the suppliers, and you receive a fixed written estimate before preparation starts.
Questions about a wedding in Maremma
Can we have a legal wedding on the Argentario?
Yes. The comune of Monte Argentario celebrates civil weddings in the council hall in Porto Santo Stefano, at its office in Porto Ercole and at two fortresses, Forte Stella and the Spanish fortress. The documents depend on citizenship and are confirmed with the comune and your consulate.
Can we have a beach wedding in Maremma?
A legal ceremony only takes place at sites a comune has designated, so on most beaches the ceremony is symbolic. Using the sand also depends on the beach concession and the municipal rules for your date, which we check before promising anything.
Which airport is best for a wedding in Maremma?
For the Argentario and the south, Rome Fiumicino is usually closest; for the north of the area, around Castiglione della Pescaia and Massa Marittima, Pisa or Florence. We plan transfers from all three.
When is the best time of year for a Maremma wedding?
Late May, June and September bring a warm sea and softer light without the August crowds. Inland the summer is hot, so outdoor ceremonies move to the late afternoon.
Does Maremma suit a wedding weekend with guests staying?
Yes, a three-day format works well here: a welcome evening on the coast, the wedding at an estate, a beach lunch the day after. The key is a base near the venue, since moving fifty guests between towns takes time.
