Themed party in Tuscany
An evening with a storyline: the era, the dress code, the decor and the music all serve one idea.
A theme is not there for the costumes. It gives the evening a shared language: guests know how to dress, what to joke about and when the main moment arrives. In Tuscany the ideas fall into place easily: Florentine Renaissance in a villa hall, the fifties and dolce vita on a terrace, an all-white evening in a garden. Together with you we choose the era or mood, write a script for the evening and find a venue that does not argue with the theme. We then handle decor, costume hire, lighting, music and timing, so that on the day you are simply a guest.
What makes up a themed evening
A script for the evening
We write a programme with a beginning, a high point and an ending: arrival, an entrance, a performance, dinner and dancing, so the theme is more than a dress code.
A venue that fits the theme
For the Renaissance a villa hall or a courtyard with old stonework, for dolce vita a terrace with a view, for an all-white party a garden. The right place works as ready-made scenery.
Costumes and dress code
We phrase the dress code in plain words and send it with the invitation. If you wish, we arrange theatrical costume hire with fittings.
Decor and lighting
Linens, candles, flowers, fabric and lighting are kept to one palette. We confirm with the villa owner what may be fixed to walls or lit.
Music and performers
Live music in the spirit of the period, a DJ with the right playlist or a quartet for dinner. Volume and hours depend on the villa's rules and municipal limits.
A menu to match
A Renaissance table with game and cheese, an Italian fifties aperitivo with ice cream, a white dinner of pale dishes: we build the menu together with the caterer.
Tell us about your celebration
Tell us the occasion, the date and the number of guests. We will suggest a format, a venue and vendors, and prepare a fixed written estimate before any work starts.
How we handle a theme
A theme without the carnival
We prefer a few precise details to props at every turn. The evening should look like a stylised reception, not a fancy-dress afternoon.
Costumes on time
For guests travelling from abroad we order costumes early, 3 to 4 weeks ahead, so there is time for sizes and alterations.
Villa rules first
Candles, open flame, fabric fixed to walls and loud music are forbidden at many villas. We find this out before you approve the script.
A theme every guest can follow
If older guests or children are coming, we keep the dress code gentle: an accessory or a colour is enough, and a full costume stays optional.
Questions about a themed party
Which party themes work best in Tuscany?
Themes tied to the place work well: Florentine Renaissance, Italian dolce vita of the fifties and sixties, an all-white summer party in a garden. A theme from another era is possible too, but the decor then has to be built from scratch.
Do guests have to find their own costumes?
That is up to you. You can set a dress code and leave the choice to guests, or order costume hire. We send a description of the looks in advance so nobody has to guess.
Can the party include open flame and loud music?
This depends on the villa's rules and municipal permits. We clarify the limits when choosing the venue and offer alternatives such as electric candles and an acoustic sound.
How many guests is this format for?
It works for a small group of friends and for a family reception across several generations. We adjust the script to the number of guests and the size of the venue.
How early should preparation begin?
For a party with costumes and decor we suggest starting 6 to 8 weeks ahead, which leaves time for the script, the venue and hire. The estimate is prepared on request before preparation starts.
